Stompin' Dave & His Bluegrass Band
Playing classic bluegrass and old-time music Stompin' Dave & His Bluegrass Band is led by Stompin' Dave "One of the world's greatest performers" according to Maverick Magazine on vocals, five string banjo and flatfoot dancing. The band often features members of top London hoedown band Cut A Shine.
Forming in 2012 at Didmarton Bluegrass Festival, Stompin' Dave & His Bluegrass Band has made headline festival appearances including National Banjo Day, The Tolpuddle Martys Festival, and The Folk Barn at Wilderness Festival. They have also performed at major events such as Glastonbury Festival, Bestival and Camp Bestival as well as appearing at The Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival and The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Dave's recruits from a pool of different supporting musicians. These have included Joe Hymas "Hippy Joe" who performs with rockgrass legends Hayseed Dixie, Jerry Bloom on fiddle, undoubtedly one of the capitals finest fiddle players, Hackney based Joe Buirski who is not only a great musician but a dedicated promoter of folk and roots music.
Also the ever ebullient Ally McAuley on guitar and vocals. Joe and Ally are directors of the award winning Fire In The Mountain Festival, that takes place every year in Aberystwyth, Wales.
Simon ‘Slammer’ Durrant has performed at many events. Simon is musical director of Goren Festival. Simon adds rhythm guitar and harmony vocals. Bristol based Mike Ponsford of leading bluegrass band Flats & Sharps has made several appearances, and excellent fiddle player Joe Mansfield of Bristol's most prominent string band Joe Mansfield & The Temperance Two, and many others!
