Stompin' Dave Allen performs on guitar, five-string banjo, fiddle, piano, harmonica, vocals & tap dancing. Dave specializes in American roots music including old-time, bluegrass, blues, country blues, folk, vintage country & hillbilly. Traditional songs & tunes, originals & covers. 

Hardworking and prolific Stompin' Dave has appeared at festivals across England including Glastonbury Festival, Maverick Festival, London Remix Festival, Wilderness Festival, The Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair, Wessex Folk Festival, Wadebridge Folk Festival, Southsea Folk & Roots Festival, Boogaloo Blues Festival, and The Ealing Blues Festival.
 
Dave has also performed across Ireland, including Northern Ireland, and in Wales.

Stompin' Dave was the winner of the FOAOTMAD banjo competition 2011. FOAOTMAD i.e. The Friends Of American Old-Time Music are the UK’s Old-Time music society. The competition was part of Gainsborough Old-Time music festival in Lincolnshire. Dave was chosen as a winner by a panel of judges comprising of The Mostly Mountain Boys from North Carolina, USA.

This last year or so, Dave who is based in Bridport, Dorset has been promoting and appearing on the bill with other touring artists in art centres and theatres across the west country.

These gigs have included 1960s folk legend Julie Felix, touring musicians from the USA, The Whitetop Mountaineers(Virginia), Ira Bernstein & Riley Baugus(North Carolina), Grandpa Banana(California) also Michael Roach(USA), Errol Linton, Bex Marshall, The Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys, The Carrivick Sisters, Earl Jackson and Maurice Dickson(Northern Ireland). 

Since beginning to perform as Stompin' Dave Allen in April 2006 Dave has produced a total of twelve CDs. Including five solo CDs Bluegrass Banjo Solo, One Foot Across The Pond, Fake American Accent, Westwood Bound, and Like A Lotus Flower Growing In Muddy Waters and produced a DVD Stompin' Dave on DVD.

Dave has also released two duo albums Old-time fiddle & banjo with youth banjo champion Edward Bennett and Country Blues with award winning bluesman Dave Saunders.

Stompin' Dave has been featured in The Daily Telegraph, Maverick Magazine, Blues In Britain, Blues Matters, Blues In The South, Evolver, in Scrumpy and Western, The Western Gazzette, The Dorset Echo, The Bridport News, The Bridport View, Suited & Booted, on BBC Somerset FM, Tipp FM, Frome FM, Forest FM, BBC Suffolk FM, BITS Radio, and been named Artist of the Month on Lemonrock.com

Dave has shared a stage with such luminaries as Hayseed Dixie, The Secret Sisters, Martin Simpson, Steve Knightly, Rory McCloud, Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick to name a few.

Dave has visited America many times and given impromptu performances in Chicago, New York, Charlottesville, New Orleans and Kansas where Dave competed in the national bluegrass banjo competition at Walnut Valley Festival, Winfield, 2008-2010.

Mainly playing solo, in 2007 Dave also began performing and recording with a small band, Stompin' Dave's Electric Band also called Stompin' Dave & his band (when acoustic material is included). With the band, which recruits various personel, Dave has now released five albums, Original Blues, More Original Blues, Piano Covered, Live At The RPA and Mystery Train.

In this setting Dave's songwriting, guitar and piano playing are heavily featured. The band's music has been reviewed in Blues In Britan, Blues Matters, Blues In The South, featured on BBC Somerset, Wessex FM, Forest FM, Express FM & BITS Radio and named track of the week on Lemonrock.com.
